6-5 Using the Pythagorean Theorem

CCSS:  8.G.6

Critical Background Knowledge- Students should understand the Pythagorean Theorem and Coordinate System.  

Content Objective: I can understand that in a right triangle a^2\:+\:b^{2\:}=\:c^2a2+b2=c2.    I can apply the Pythagorean Theorem in real world situations to find missing lengths.  I can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between two points on a coordinate system.  

Language Objective: I can define legs, hypothenuse and coordinate system.    

Essential Question: How can I use geometry to respond to the challenges in life?
