Transformations
CCSS 8.G.1, 8.G.1a, 8.G.1b, 8.G.1c, 8.G.2, 8.G.3 & 8.G.4
Critical Background Knowledge- Students should know triangles, concept of congruency, lines, and angles.
Content Objective: I can use the properties of translations, rotations, and reflections on line segments, angles, parallel lines or geometric figures. I can explain why two figures are congruent using transformations (explaining the series of transformations used). I can determine the new coordinate of a figure given a dilation, translation, rotation or reflection. I can explain similarities of figures in terms of dilation and/or transformations. I can describe transformations and/or dilations that produce similar figures.
Language Objective: I can define translation, reflection, rotation and dilation.
Essential Question: How can I use geometry to respond to the challenges in life?
