Copying a Canvas Course
Open Settings

In Course Navigation, click the Settings link.
Search for a Course

In the Search for a course drop-down menu [1], select the course you would like to access. Courses are ordered by most recent term. You can also choose to include completed courses by selecting the completed courses checkbox [2].
To search for a course by name, enter the name in the Course Name field [3]. Click the name of the course when it appears.
Note: If you have access to more than 100 courses, the search page only displays the Course Name field.
Select Migration Content

To import all content from the course, select the All Content radio button [1].
If you want to select specific content, click the Select specific content radio button [2].
Note: If you select the specific content option, you are required to select the content you want to import after you review the remaining page options. After you start importing the content, the import selection cannot be canceled.
Adjust Events and Due Dates

If you want to adjust the due dates associated with the course events and assignments, click the Adjust events and due dates checkbox.
View Current Jobs
The Current Jobs section displays the status of your import. Running reports display a menu bar with the time remaining to complete the import [1].
If you chose to select specific content in your course, the current job will show as Waiting for Select [2], which means you must select the content you want to import.
The import may also display other status indicators as part of the import process. Learn more about course import statuses.
View the content from any completed imports by accessing any link in Course Navigation.

Tips for making your Canvas Home Page Visual These tips may also apply to other pages! (Suggestions based on experience)

A. Make each slide a button B. Export your Haiku Deck as a PowerPoint (.PPT) file by choosing the export button. C. Open the powerPoint File and choose "Save as Pictures" from the "File" menu. This will create a JPEG for each slide. D. Choose "Options..." in the Save Screen and change the width to 255 and click OK. E. Choose location to save to and click "Save." Adding a group of images is super easy by using the "File" link located in the course navigation. For this step we will be skipping ahead to file management, we will come back to it shortly. 1. Click on "Files" located on the left side of your screen. 2. Create a new folder titled "HomePage" to place any images or files that will be located on your home page. 3. There are two fast ways to do this: A. While having your new folder open, drop and drag the image files, your buttons, into the folder (Video right)- BLAZING FAST B. While having your new folder open, click upload, and choose images. |

1. Insert a table on to your home page. Tip #1 The table should not have more than three columns when creating a table for a visual home page. Tip #2 If you want to place dates above the unit button, double the number of rows in the table. This will help students and parents with navigation (Suggested). If you choose to insert date ranges, before going to step 2 enter coming soon to all odd numbered rows. (Sample Right) 2. With the cursor in the cell you would like to insert the first image button, choose the image from the navigation on the right side of your screen, "Insert Content into this Page." When you click the image, the button will be inserted. 3. Repeat step 2 for all of your unit buttons. 4. To link the image to a unit page, the unit module, or other canvas content click on the image in your table and then choose the desired location from the navigation on the right side of your screen, "Insert Content into this Page" under "links." 5. Repeat step 4 to link your other buttons. If you change the content pages name, module name, discussion name, etc. you will need to relink the button. 6. Test the links! |
