Elementary Quizzes
Just as we have learned that elementary Canvas courses should be visual and interactive, we can use images and audio to make Canvas quizzes more accessible for younger students.
Adding Images to Quizzes
When you have created a quiz and have clicked on the "Questions" tab to create the quiz content, you will see the rich content editor available at the top of where you type each question. You can type, and you can also add anything else you could add to a content page, including an image.
- Click on the image button in the rich content editor.
- Choose where your image will come from:
- Click update, and your image will now be part of your question.
Adding Audio to Quizzes
Audio and video can also be added to quiz questions using the rich content editor. You can record yourself reading each quiz questions, and even the answer choices, to help those who struggle with reading. They can now complete a quiz on their own by putting on some headphones!
- Click on the
button to open the recording window.
- The default media recording setting is the camera. Click on the microphone icon if you only want to record audio.
- Be sure to allow the microphone (and camera if you're making a video).
- Title your recording.
- Click the recorder to start, and again to stop.
- Save your recording.
- Notice that the recording shows as a multimedia element in your question. Students will be able to click on this icon to play the recording.
