After Effects Lesson 2
After Effects Lesson 2
Since you are all familiar with working with Photoshop features, such as formatting text and layer styles, it may be easier for them to prepare their text in Photoshop.
After Effects includes the Photoshop rendering engine; it will import all the attributes of a Photoshop file. When formatting text, it is a good idea to change their workspace to the Text workspace. The Text workspace activates the Character and Paragraphs panels. Changes you make on the Character panel affect only the text they have selected. If you select text with the Selection tool while making changes on the Character panel, all the text on that layer will change.
Nesting a composition is the process of placing it inside another composition. The nested composition, sometimes referred to as a precomposition, appears as a single layer in the composition in which it is placed. It is also known as the master composition. You can apply effects to the nested composition like any other layer.
Importing Photoshop files encourages them to work with nested compositions. The easiest way to navigate between nested compositions in After Effects is to use the Composition Navigator. Upstream is another term sometimes used for a nested composition. The composition most upstream is the master composition. Downstream is another term for the composition that contains a nested composition. There can be multiple nestings in a composition; the most downstream composition is referred to as the root composition.
There is an entire animation preset library dedicated specifically to text presets. Additionally, they can change the colors of their text add a stroke or fill in order for certain animation to work and make other adjustments to using the property settings on the Timeline.
