Unpacking the Social Studies Standards (Continued)

suitcases

On day 1, we spent time in groups unpacking an assigned Social Studies standard and objective. We will be using this objective during the "Ya'll Do" sections of today's lessons, so let's take another look at them now. In the next 10 minutes, complete the following:

  1. Use the "Cohort 4 Standards Groups" document embedded below to remind you which standard and objective were assigned to your group.
  2. Locate your group's copy of "Unpacking the Standards" in your CSDDocs "My Drive".
  3. Ensure that every member of your group is invited to the group's "Unpacking the Standards" Google Doc.
  4. Invite your Specialists to your group's "Unpacking the Standards" Google Doc.
  5. Review the work that you completed last time on your group's "Unpacking the Standards" Google Doc.
  6. Complete each section of the "Unpacking the Standards" template that has not yet been completed.

Most groups will be ready to focus on the last section of your document. Use the following ideas to assist you in completing this section:

Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for Each Learning Target Listed Above:

At the end of the unit, what will student work look like if they have mastered the concepts?

This could be a checklist, project, rubric, T-chart, etc.

Consider criteria that you would add to a rubric for a final project/assessment.

Consider what exemplar, mastery, and needs improvement sample assignments would look like.

Make it visible for students. They need to know where they are going, what they are doing, and why they are doing it; how it relates to the standard and why.

Throughout the day, use the "Unpacking the Standards" document to assist you as you work on creating group Google assignments.

*You may find yourselves adjusting some of the activities you listed on your group document as you learn more tools for creating activities, assignments, and assessments throughout your time in Cohort 4.
