Template: Notes For The Template Administrators | Do Not Publish-3

Template Distribution Planning

There are a few options when it comes to distributing your template to faculty/staff. The following is a description of the most common methods:

Template Delivery

Options Description Resources
Canvas Blueprint Faculty members are provided with a linked-copy of the template. Blueprint administrators are able to push updates to courses and lock certain components of the template in order to prevent undesired changes.
Canvas Commons

Faculty members can search for and import the template (or template components) into their live courses.

Please do not make the template (or template components) public to Canvas Commons users outside of your institution/district. Learn More:

Export/Import Option Faculty members are provided with a Course export package. They can import the template (or template components) into any of their courses using the Canvas import feature.
Course Copy Faculty members copy the template content (or template components) into one or more of their courses. Note: Faculty only have access to copy content from courses from current or previous courses in which they are enrolled as a user.

Your Action Needed

There are a few pages that require your input prior to template distribution. Please review the following:

  1. Template: Introduction & How-to Customize | Do Not Publish
    • The Template Overview section requires your input (ex. Are instructor's free to remove and add items as they see fit?)
  2. Canvas: Additional Support | Do Not Publish
    • This page provides faculty with contact information/instructions for your specific institution and, as such, requires customization.
