LanSchool or Classroom Practice Stations
Using LanSchool or Classroom is beneficial during direct, whole-class instruction as well as small group instruction. There are many times when teachers will invite students to use devices on their own. For example: devices at practice stations allow students to rotate through technology-rich activities independently while you meet with a small group for differentiated instruction. Or, you might use 5 minutes of "free computer time" as a reward for a class PBIS contingency plan. During these times, it is important that teachers still monitor student technology use and limit sites students may access to those that are safe and tied to student learning.
In this assignment you will show that you are able to use either LanSchool or Classroom to help you ensure that devices are being used correctly at all times. If you chose to use LanSchool, complete the first assignment option below. If you chose to use Classroom, complete the second option.
Option 1 - LanSchool Assignment Details:
Create a LanSchool website list that either blocks certain distracting websites you would like students to refrain from using or allows a specific list of websites that you have determined students may use. Take a screenshot of your website list in LanSchool and submit it as a file upload below.
*Home Learning participants might not be able to complete this assignment without students logged on and active. You may instead submit a screenshot showing where you would add these websites in LanSchool. Then share a couple of sites you might block as a comment on this assignment.
Option 2 - Classroom Assignment Details:
Create groups of students from your class list in Classroom. Lock each group of students into a specific app. Take a screenshot of your groups when they are locked into apps, and submit the screenshot as a file upload below.
Tip: To take a screenshot on a Mac, press Shift-Command-4. Drag to select the area of the screen to capture.
Tip: To take a screenshot on an iPad, press the home button and the power button simultaneously.
