Assignment parameters:

Usually, if we were in class, you would be working in teams to research and present one order of mammals in class, to teach each other about the crazy diversity of this class of vertebrates. Thank you to those of you who did the Google survey for this; the most votes went to researching all of the orders.

Build a Google slides presentation (or, if you would like, you may add them all to your Prezi in the Mammals section. That would be cool and Fravel might throw you some bonus points)

You may work in teams of 2-3 people if you would like! Please make sure you list everyone's names on which orders they did. Everyone must individually build and submit an assignment, so you are really just sharing your research.

For each order of mammals:

1. List the group's distinguishing characteristics (For example: for Artiodactyla: Even-toed ungulates  – hoofed animals – which bear weight equally on two of their five toes: the third and fourth. The other three toes are either present, absent, vestigial, or pointing posteriorly)

2. identify and describe an example species. Include its scientific name and common name, where it lives, a picture, and conservation status.

Cetacea

Chiroptera

Hyracoidae

Insectivora
