One way to help keep students engaged during direct instruction when you are presenting a Google Slides presentation is to have them take notes on the presentation itself! Provide students with their own copy of the presentation by sharing a "Force Copy" URL.
Create a force copy link:
- Copy shareable link to Google file.
- Paste link where you'd like students to access it.
- In the shareable link, change the word edit to the word copy. Be sure not to change any other part of the link.
Students can take presenter notes or use the Commenting feature in Google Slides to take notes. You could also build in graphic organizers or leave space on your slides for students to fill in information for more interactive notes!
Sometimes videos are a great resource for instruction, whether being used independently, as a part of station rotations, or even for a flipped classroom. The most pressing question is: How do we hold students accountable for watching a video?
Simple! Embed the video in Google Forms so students must answer questions as they watch.
