LaptopOrganize Your Files

Create and organize your files on your computer just like you would in a filing cabinet.

Create Folders

  • Create a new folder by going to the "File" menu and clicking "New Folder". Or, click on the Finder to open a new window, then click on the icon with a circle and three dots. From here, click on "New Folder".

  • Name the folder.
  • Drag items into the folder, or save items to the folder.


View Files

  • View files in a number of convenient styles: as icons, as a list, in columns, or in gallery view.

  • View files in a number of convenient orders: by name, kind of file, application, date, size, or tags

Search for Files
  • There are a couple ways to search for your files on your Mac:
    • Spotlight - Click on the Spotlight button in the top right corner of your desktop, then type in key words to find your file.

    • Finder Search - Click in the search bar in an open Finder window. Type in key words to find your file and select where you would like to search.
