So How Do I Start Screencasting?
Now that we've been introduced to screencasting and understand the benefits of both digital video in the classroom and making your own videos, it's time to dig into the "how to" of screencasting. Below is a quick look at the screencasting tools we will be discussing.

Skills to practice:
1. Download recorder for use outside of your browser
2. Choose what to record (i.e., screen, webcam, or both)
3. Move the selection box to capture different parts of your screen
4. Practice recording, including:
- Pausing & resuming
- Previewing
- Starting over
5. Click "Done" & explore your options for exporting your finished video

Using Screencast-o-Matic inside of Canvas
Using external tools you can record videos and add them directly to Canvas.

Instructions: Download the app on your iPad and following along using the tutorial below.
Note: Educreations also has a vast library of teacher-created videos (Links to an external site.), but making your own can save you the time wasted searching for the right video.

Skills to practice:
1. Start a new lesson
2. Draw in a variety of colors & erase
3. Add:
- text
- an image from your iPad (try resizing it!)
- a different background (such as the grid)
4. Duplicate the page and navigate between pages 1 and 2
5. Scroll down on a page to write more
6. Record, pause, and resume
7. Try adding a photo while recording
8. Save finished video
9. Create an Educreations account with your Google account (@csddocs.org)
10. Play back lesson
