Story Mapping ISTE Connection

Authentic mapping activities can help students learn more about their community gives them the opportunity to learn how to use geo tools that are essential to a many careers.

 

ISTE Standard: Designer


To meet this standard, educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. Educators:

5.a. Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.
5.b. Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.
5.c. Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.

Teachers who use Google Tour Builder, Esri GeoInquiries, and/or ArcGIS story maps are designers because they design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools to maximize active, deep learning.
