With the internet at their fingertips, students often turn to Google for research before seeking out library resources, databases, and other more traditional sources. However, Google can still be a great place to start research for credible sources, especially if students know how to use Google effectively.

Search for exact match by putting a word or phrase in quotation marks. Exclude words from your search by putting a dash in front of a word to exclude it. Combine searches by putting "or" between each search query. Search for information from a particular site by putting "site:" in front of a site or domain.
