Using Timelines to Gather or Display Information

  • Timelines are charts that show events in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, or the order in which they occurred. They can be organized by theme or to show a certain period of history.
  • Watch this video to quickly review how timelines are made. 

  • Timelines organize information in a way that makes it easier and faster to find what you're looking for. Look at the following timeline about the History of Animation for practice.
  • Grab a scratch paper and number it 1-10. For each event from the History of Early Animation, use the timeline to find the answer. Hint: Find keywords from the question in the timeline. For example: 4) "What year was the first Technicolor feature film?" includes the word TechnicolorOn the timeline, you'd see that word in the box at the bottom right that reads, "Disney creates the first Technicolor feature film, 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. 1937". The answer to question #4 is 1937.
