Lesson 3.4: Geographic Features

What is a Geographic Feature?

• A geographic feature is land or water that is naturally occurring on the earth- humans had nothing to do with it!
• Each place is unique due to its' geographic features
• Example: Utah
  • We have lots of raised earth called hills and mountains

• • • We have long stretches of flat land, like valleys and plateaus

• • • We have dry areas of land with little water called deserts

• Non-Example: Salt Lake City
  • Salt Lake City is made by people, and is not here naturally. All of the buildings, homes, and streets are NOT geographic features.
