Lesson 3.4: Geographic Features
What is a Geographic Feature?
- A geographic feature is land or water that is naturally occurring on the earth- humans had nothing to do with it!
- Each place is unique due to its' geographic features
-
Example: Utah
- We have lots of raised earth called hills and mountains
-
-
- We have long stretches of flat land, like valleys and plateaus
-
-
-
- We have dry areas of land with little water called deserts
-
-
-
- We have big water features like Utah Lake and the Great Salt Lake
-
-
Non-Example: Salt Lake City
- Salt Lake City is made by people, and is not here naturally. All of the buildings, homes, and streets are NOT geographic features.
