Overview of Week 1

Welcome to the Renaissance!

The Renaissance time period (1400's - 1800's CE) is seen by historians as a time of "rebirth" in Europe.  After the bubonic plague, the Crusades, and other hardships during the Middle Ages, society will flourish in learning and the arts thanks to changes in philosophy and the contributions of great minds like Leonardo da Vinci and William Shakespeare.

This week, we will take a look at what happened during the Renaissance as a whole, use primary and secondary sources to study some of the significant changes that occurred, and take a sneak peak at some important inventions that came out of this time period.
