King Tutankhamun

Backpack.png

  • One of the most famous pharaohs of ancient Egypt was KING TUTANKHAMUN (nicknamed King Tut).  Historians believe he was only nine years old when he became the ruler of all of Egypt.

  • King Tut wasn't famous for being a great ruler, fighting in battles, or making great changes under his rule. In fact, historians believe he was only 18-19 years old when he died.  His TOMB, where he is buried in the Valley of the Kings, was filled with treasure when he died. While most ancient tombs were looted by grave robbers, King Tut's tomb remained intact until the 20th century when it was discovered by a British archaeologist named Howard Carter in 1922.
