Kindergarten Keyboarding
Kindergarten Keyboarding is all about becoming familiar with how your computer works.
On this page, you will find links to activities that will help you get better at using your computer. In kindergarten, keyboarding is not part of the regular curriculum, but because students will be using a computer as part of blended learning, it will help if you learn to use your computer safely, practice controlling your mouse, trackpad, and keyboard, and learn a little about computer science.
Typing Club
Typing Club - Teachers, you can create a free Typing Club account Links to an external site. and add your students to your class. This will be something managed by you for your students. You can get the "pro" version free for 60 days, or you can get the plain free account that basically has fewer reporting options. It is recommended to use the "Jungle Junior" curriculum. It has lessons to help your young students identify letters of the alphabet on the computer keyboard and practice mouse/trackpad manipulation. It is also recommend that you create student accounts since the non-login version has ads and frequently requests that the student create an account.
A recommended schedule is that students participate in one lesson per day, Monday through Thursday, through October 2nd. Then, students can continue to participate in lessons on a weekly basis throughout the rest of the school year.

Code.org Computer Science Fundamentals - Teachers, here are some computer science lessons to learn how to be safe on your computer, use your mouse and trackpad, and to learn about patterns used in computer programming. If you would like to, you can create a teacher account for Code.org Links to an external site. and add your students to your class. This will allow you to assign lessons to them and monitor their progress. A recommended schedule would be that students participate in one lesson per day, Monday through Thursday, through October 2nd.
