Keyboard IconMFUW Circuits

As was mentioned in the introduction about Keyboard Connection, all circuit material focuses on high frequency words, but the circuits are grouped according to their content:

  • Circuits 1-25 -- Alphabet and basic punctuation keys
  • Circuits 26-30 -- Alphabet review and intense drill on 50 MFUW
  • Circuits 31-35 -- Additional punctuation keys
  • Circuits 36-40 -- MFUW and theme words
  • Circuits 41-45 -- Speedbuilding drills and simple composition
  • Circuits 46-55 -- Number keypad and simple composition

Many fifth grade teachers will choose to teach circuits 26-45 during their 20 days of keyboarding instruction at the beginning of the school year to give students who are already competent in the basics the opportunity to learn the MFUW. Read through the lesson for Circuit 36, the first of the MFUW-focused circuits. As you read, pay attention to how it is designed to help students build their typing vocabulary so that they practice automatic response words, not just individual letters.
