Using KBK
Using Keyboarding for Kids
While the Ed Tech Department manages District KBK accounts and licenses, each school manages their own classes and students within the program.
At some schools, a teaching aide may assist in creating classes and student accounts, but in most schools each teacher is responsible for managing his/her class.
Teachers need to set up their KBK classes before October when they will begin follow-up keyboarding instruction. Ed Tech Coaches can help teachers with this process as needed. The Ed Tech Team has also created documentation to help you with many of your most common KBK processes:
School Login Information
Each school has an admin login for Keyboarding Online. Teachers can log in using the admin account and create their own teacher account once within the school's. Be careful! Do not change the admin account to your name.
Please contact your school's Ed Tech Coach to obtain your school's login information. Please keep the administrative login information secure. It should not be shared with students.
Creating Classes
Next, teachers should create their class (or classes) within the school's account. It is helpful to include the school year in the course name to help with course cleanup and management later.
Grading Profile Setup
It is important to set up grading profiles for students in KBK. Usually teams create grade-level profiles that each teacher in that grade uses with their students, however teachers may create as many profiles as they want to in order to adapt for student needs. Watch the following video to learn how to set up your grading profile:
Adding Students
Next, teachers will add their students to their class. This can be done one student at a time, or students can be added as a group using a spreadsheet downloaded from Skyward. Watch the following video to learn how:
For student logins, please use the students' CSDDocs email addresses and passwords.
Move Students
It is possible to move students to new classes at the start of the school year in order to save the progress they made the year before. Teachers will want to update the student's grading profile as well as their class if they choose this option.
