We appreciate your dedication to your child’s language learning and the patience you have demonstrated over these past few months as we address the diverse language learning needs of our Dual Language Immersion students in these challenging times. 

 As a Dual Language Immersion team, our DLI state and district leaders have teamed up to offer additional online DLI resources to support your student’s at-home learning.  We know this year has posed challenges for our remote bilingual learners as they’re unable to benefit from in-classroom conversations and interactions, reducing their exposure to their target language.  So, to supplement the online lessons that are currently available, Canyons has secured new tools and resources for remote learners in grades 1-8.

Moving forward, the Chinese Team will continue to publish two Canvas course units per grade, per month at the elementary level and one unit per month for 6th graders at the middle school level, as specified in the chart below.  DLI students in grades 7-8 also will continue to have access to the state’s Online DLI Chinese courses.  

In addition, through a state-funded grant, Canyons has purchased software through which Chinese DLI students, grades 1-8 can access resources to supplement their online lessons.

  • Level Chinese Online Oral Language Game + Library (self-paced)
  • Two Canvas course Mandarin Matrix literacy units per month. 
  • One unit = 5 lessons (Total 10 lessons)
