This course describes the next level of Educational Technology which is embodied in the International Society for Technology in Education's Standards for Educators.  It will provide a brief introduction to the ISTE Standards for Students as a background for helping to implement the educator standards. The rest of the course delves deeply into the ISTE Standards for Educators.

Rapid advances in technology have led to profound shifts in how we live, communicate and work. To prepare our students for the world they will soon enter and for a future we cannot yet imagine, education must not only adapt to these changes but innovate.

Innovating education goes far beyond just learning how to use new tools. It requires us to rethink how we teach and learn. And it calls on us to re-engineer our districts, schools and classrooms for the digital age.

To help further this, The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has developed standards for students, educators, administrators, and technology coaches.

The purpose of this course is to help you as a teacher to

1) become familiar with the ISTE Standards for Students

2) understand the essential conditions that are necessary to effectively leverage technology in the classroom

3) have a deep understanding of the ISTE Standard for Educators

4) create projects that help you and your students become more proficient in using technology in and out of the classroom.
