How do I Create Assignments?

Assignment Introduction

Assignments include Quizzes, graded Discussions, and online submissions (i.e. files, images, text, URLs, etc.) Assignments in Canvas can be used to challenge students' understanding and help assess competency by using a variety of media. The Assignments page will show your students all of the Assignments that will be expected of them and how many points each is worth. Assignments can be assigned to everyone in the course or differentiated by section or user.

 

Assignments can be created and submitted and graded via Canvas.  The following assignment types can be submitted:

Web URL (see next module)

NOTE:  To have students submit a Google Doc, it must be set up as a file upload assignment.

 

 

Set Due and Availability Dates

You can set the Due Date [1], Available From date [2], and available Until date [3] for the quiz.

  • Due Date: Set the date and time that the Quiz is due.
  • Available From: Set the date and time when the Quiz will become available.
  • Until: Set the date and time when the Quiz will no longer be available.
