What are Google Docs?

Every teacher and K-12th grade student at Canyons School District has a Google Drive account through the "CSDdocs" domain.  Google Docs are files created in the Google Drive system that can be used to collaborate in real time with multiple participants.  There are currently five types of docs that can be created in Google Drive: Documents, Presentations, Spreadsheets, Drawings, and Forms.

Google Drive is also a cloud-based storage system similar to Dropbox where users can store and access files. Both Google formatted files and external file types like images, PDFs, and Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files can be uploaded and accessed. Google Docs can even be submitted via Canvas!

During the 2013-14 school year each 8th grade and 12th grade team received a cart of 40 Chromebooks to work in conjunction with Canvas and Google Docs.  For more information on Chromebooks, continue this module.
