Grant Narrative
Once you have completed your narrative and all other materials needed for your grant application, submit your narrative here for feedback from your instructor. Use the feedback to improve your proposal before submitting it in real life.
When writing your grant narrative, paint a picture of what the project will look like in your classroom. Remember that students are your main focus. Please be descriptive and complete, but remember that more is not always better; sometimes it's just more. Humans will be reading your grant proposal. Stay focused! Most importantly: follow the rules of the grant. Don't get disqualified by not using the format or form they require. We have seen teachers be disqualified for something as simple as having their name on the narrative when the instructions were to remain anonymous, so be careful. Each grant you apply for will be different, but a strong proposal is a great start. You can do it!
For this assignment, submit your finished grant narrative as a Google Doc or file upload.
Be sure and include the following in your narrative:
- Title of your project
- A description of the project or learning experience and what students will be doing and learning
- Equipment/supplies being requested
- How the project is connected to standards
- Follow proper writing conventions
Your instructor will give you feedback on your grant narrative here in this Canvas course. Using that feedback, edit and revise your proposal as needed. Then, once you have completed, edited, revised, and refined your grant proposal, submit it in real life! And good luck!
Keep in mind that even if you are not awarded this particular grant, you can always apply again in the future and apply to other grants. You can use the narrative and budget form you already created to apply for different grants, adjusting it to fit the focus, requirements, and budget of each grant you apply for. If you keep fine tuning and improving your proposal, eventually, you may get what you want for your classroom!
