Weekly Outline: Informational Writing
Informational Writing
This week you will be learning about a historical person and writing a short informational paragraph about what you have learned. You will start by watching videos of many different historical figures and you will choose which person you would like to learn more about. Then you will be writing a short informational paragraph. Don't worry, some tips and tricks are given throughout the module!
Learning Intentions
This week I will learn about a historical figure so I can write an informational paragraph.
My informational paragraph will cite evidence from the videos and text that I read.
Standards:
W.6.2a Introduce a topic; organize ideas, concepts, and information
W.6.2b Develop the topic with relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples .
W.6.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
W.6.6 Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills.
RI.6.1 Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

- Complete an exploration of a historical figure which includes listening to a picture book, reading the fact sheets, and watching an extra extension video
- Create my own fact sheet for a historical figure demonstrating
- Write an informational paragraph about my historical figure that has evidence from the sources I read and watch
