Parents of Online and Parent-Guided DLI Students,

We appreciate your dedication to your child’s language learning and the patience you have demonstrated over these past few months as we address the diverse language learning needs of our Dual Language Immersion students in these challenging times.

As a Dual Language Immersion team, state and Canyons District leaders have teamed up to offer additional online DLI resources to support your student’s at-home learning. We know this year has posed challenges for our remote bilingual learners as they’re unable to benefit from in-classroom conversations and interactions, reducing their exposure to their target language. So, to supplement the online lessons that are currently available, Canyons has secured new tools and resources for remote learners in grades 1-6.

Moving forward, the Spanish Team will continue to publish 2-4 Canvas lessons per grade per week at the elementary level, as specified in the chart below, and one module per week at the secondary level (7 and 8).

In addition, through a state-funded grant, Canyons has purchased software through which your K-6 Spanish DLI students will have access to another language learning resource called Istation. This is an integrated learning system that will adapt access to Spanish literacy lessons based on your student’s language proficiency level.

Students can access this new resource by logging on to https://clever.com/in/canyons (Links to an external site.) and signing in with their CSDdocs account, then clicking on the Istation icon. Parents can also access a parent tutorial to support the students’ experience with Istation:
