Who

All Fourth and Fifth Grade students in Canyons School District.

When

Entries must be submitted by February 21, 2025.

What

Canyons School District is excited to host a virtual speech competition.

How

Choose any topic, but it should be your original work, and either persuasive or informative.

Write an original speech.
Use sources.
The speech should be between 2-4 minutes.
Memorize your speech.
Then record your speech using the Flipgrid platform.
Make sure that at least your upper body and face can be seen well in the video.

Students will use Flip inside Canvas to submit their video. Please be sure to use a device with a web camera and microphone.

Judging

In a traditional tournament, students would give their speech over multiple rounds. For this competition, students will go through preliminary judging. The top students will advance to a final round, where they will be judged by a committee.

All students will be graded on the following Speech rubric. Rubrics will be returned to students by their teacher after judging.

Awards

The top 10% of students will receive awards for Superior Speaking.
