Intro to Google Drive

Where do you start with navigating your CSDDocs account? Start by learning about the organization of your online drive.

Watch the following video to learn how to access your CSDDocs account:

 

Now learn a little more about the Google Drive menu. Please note that what is referred to as "Team Drive" in the video is now called "Shared Drive".

 

Review the tables below for a detailed description of each Google Drive menu item:

  1. New - Allows you to create new documents or folders.
  2. Priority: Shows files that Google's system rates as relevant for recent or upcoming work
  3. My Drive - This is where all your files are stored.
  4. Shared Drives: What is a shared drive? Links to an external site.
  5. Shared with me - Anything anyone shares with you lives here. 
  6. Recent - Recently opened documents
  7. Starred - A list of all documents and folders you have starred
  8. Trash - Everything you delete goes here. A safe place in case you didn't mean to delete it.

 

Clicking the "NEW" button reveals the following options:

  1. Folder - Create a folder to organize your files.
  2. File upload - Upload a file from your computer.
  3. Folder upload - Upload and entire folder and its contents from your computer. 
  4. Google Docs - Create a new Docs document
  5. Google Sheets - Create a new Sheets spreadsheet
  6. Google Slides - Create a new Slides presentation

Selecting "More" gives you access to create even more documents:

1. Google Forms- Create a new Survey or Quiz

2. Google Drawings- Create a new Google Drawing

3. Google My Maps- Create a new Google My Map

4. Google Sites- Create a new Google Site (No Elementary Access)

5. Connect more apps- Add Chrome app shortcuts
